UK & I Graduate Leadership scheme


In a nutshell, what does your job involve?
The UK & I Graduate Leadership scheme is an 18-month training programme. During the programme I’ll complete four assignments, lasting between 3-6 months, in a variety of business areas, including Commercial, Distribution & the Airline, as well as other Head Office functions. Twelve months into the programme, I’ll also get to spend five weeks working in one of our resorts overseas.

For my first assignment, I’m working with the Ancillaries team, who source, manage and market all the things that we sell as add-ons to our main package holidays – so everything from excursions and weddings, to car hire and extra legroom seats.

Name three things in life that make you smile.
Travelling, dinner parties and Scrabble.

While you’ve been working at TUI, what has put the biggest smile on your face?
The people – it’s wonderful to work with colleagues who are so genuinely passionate about what they do (but the amazing travel benefits come a close second!)

What could you tell someone about TUI that would sound too good to be true?
That using staff travel benefits, I recently booked a seven-night holiday to the Caribbean for £200…

Why do you think TUI is ‘good value’ for you?
I really enjoy my role here at TUI – the graduate programme means that I get a huge amount of variety in my work, and also the chance to work on some really interesting, high-profile projects where I can make a real impact. However, one of the best things about working for TUI is the opportunity to get involved in things outside of my role. Since being here, I’ve joined the choir, taken part in a team day helping out in the local community and I hope to join the netball team after Christmas. There’s great community spirit here and it’s wonderful to be a part of that.

As a Sales Executive for one of our businesses, your main objective will be to sell! This may be through a mixture of telesales, incoming enquiries, site visits, new business leads, online enquiries and third party agents.

Using your passion for our products you’ll maximise every sales opportunity through providing a superior customer experience handling incoming enquiries and generating new business revenue across the full portfolio of products for your business. we’ll focus on your personal and professional development, making sure that you’re fully equipped to reach your potential. You’ll can expect an exemplary support structure, including a buddy to help you settle quickly into your role and a senior finance mentor who’ll pass on vital knowledge. Plus, your a line manager will be on hand to make sure you’re progressing, every step of the way. And as well as funding your CIMA qualification, we’ll provide you with BPP tuition, study materials and additional study leave – so you’ll have all the encouragement and incentive you need to excel.

The Programme


As a TUI Finance Graduate, during at least three distinct rotations you could find yourself supporting any aspect of our business whether it be the aircraft we fly (Thomson Airways), our Thomson stores and websites (Distribution), our Mainstream holiday programme (Tour Operations) or the hard financials (Reporting). Examples of recent finance graduate roles include Cruise Accountant, Airline Reporting Assistant, Airline Engineering Finance Analyst and Finance Analyst – Marketing & Distribution.

Alongside supporting you through an accelerated CIMA qualification, we will commit to providing you with a development programme which covers aspects of financial & management accounting, reporting and analysis whilst giving you the business overview that you can build upon as you progress through your career at TUI. As a Finance Graduate, you’ll also help deliver projects and initiatives that will benefit our organisation, the business stakeholders that lead our business and your professional capabilities.

The UK IT Graduate Programme


What you will be doing:

Over a 2 year development programme you’ll rotate across four different roles within IT including Portfolio Management, IT Security, Service Delivery, Software Engineering and IT Architecture. The role could support many aspects of our business operations whether it’s our retail stores and websites, the aircraft we fly, cruise ships we sail, or overseas operations. Our programme provides you with a solid foundation in the core elements of IT, ready for you to build upon as you progress and create your career path at TUI.

The programme benefits from on-going graduate development workshops where you will learn how to be an effective leader, key project management skills and how to present with impact. There are numerous training opportunities and you’ll also have support from Buddies and Mentors.

You will work on live projects gaining professional experience in Project Management/Business Analysis, IT Security, IT Development/Testing and Service Support. If that wasn’t tempting enough, you’ll go ‘back to the floor’ at several points during the programme – you’ll spend time in our key business and customer facing areas such as retail and in-resort operations – giving you the chance to appreciate our customer journey.

Depending on your role and personal interests you will be given the opportunity to gain at least two IT qualifications; in the past these have included CompTIA Security +, Advanced Project Management (APM), BCS Business Analysis Diploma and ITIL. Your placements will be wide-ranging and allow you to understand and appreciate the full IT lifecycle. After 2 years you will have the opportunity to specialise in an IT discipline of your choice.

What we are looking for?

We’re looking for Business-Savvy Technologists – commercially aware individuals who are analytical, logical thinking and have a real passion for technology and travel. We want results-driven, motivated team players with drive and determination, able to thrive under pressure. Since you’ll be working as part of a diverse team, you’ll have excellent communication skills (fluent English is essential). You’ll also have leadership potential and the ambition to build a career in IT.

Entry requirements:

  • A BSc (or MSc) degree in a STEM subject – that’s Science, Technology (Computing, Computer Science, Software Development etc), Engineering or Maths
  • A predicted or achieved grade of 2:1
  • An innovative & entrepreneurial mind set – you enjoy bringing new ideas to the table and think outside the box
  • You have an interest in development practices and like to keep up to date with the wider tech industry
  • Technical understanding/knowledge of IT Engineering (coding, testing etc.) would be advantageous

Alongside your four placements,

you’ll attend a number of development workshops and work on a collaborative project. While we expect you to immerse yourself from the start, we’ll support you all the way. With a formal one-week induction and a graduate buddy, you’ll quickly settle in. You’ll also receive guidance from a mentor and a personal development plan, as well as a host of internal learning resources such as quarterly training sessions, e-learning, and one-to-one coaching.
